UPDATE It's been 1 yr since I installed this 8 ch DVR card in my PC, and its been a real work horse. Every so often 1 or more of the cameras will stop working and I have to restart the PC. This card records at such high resolution that I had to upgrade my cameras. The software is a joy to use but like I mentioned b4 it will use a lot of GB recording on the high setting sometimes up to 32 GB in a 24 hr period. I also have a 4 ch stand alone unit and another PC with a 4 ch DVR recorder but this 8 ch unit is my favorite for quality and reliability. One prob I hav is wen there is a power failure the PC wont come back on automaticly like the stand alone unit does, the PC has to be manualy started and the DVR software has to be clicked on and record button started. I really luv the timeline bar and I can click on any of my 8 cameras and view exactly wat went on that certain time and date. The stand alone unit is more difficult to view specific events and recording to a thumb drive and transfering to the PC is not a fun thing. If you have outdoor cameras go with IR night vision high resolution units to optimize this card. I used to have problems with theives and gang graffiti, but not any more.
It took about a week and a half after ordering to recieve. The card went in very easy, the software didnt load auto so I just went to my computer and clicked on the dvd and installed it that way. At first I didnt have color images so I had to change the resolution of my screen to a higher setting and restart the PC, I hav an older P4, 2.8 The PC kept saying this is not approved by MS and I kept clicking install anyway. The directions are not detailed enuf but after a while I figured everything out. I upgraded from a 240/152 card so the capture quality of this card is amazing. Also the software is really nice. Saving still frames. Finding the time period is really easy and fast. Frame by frame capture, all the adjustable setting for each camera. Easily save recorded segments to ur HD and then transfer to pen drive or burn to DVD or CD is a sweet and easy process. I also like the controls for the PTZ camera and I just orderd one so I'll be trying out that funtion soon. It does use up some HD space on the high capture settings so I may upgrade to a 500gb and dedicate it to this capture device. A card with similar features and funtions will cost you a lot more than this baby, Im completely satisfied. Highly reccomended
