These headrest DVD players are AMAZING! Took me the better part of a day to install, but am very happy with them. Installed them in my 2010 Nissan Altima (black leather). The feux leather on these looks so close to the real leather that you can't tell the difference unless pointed out.
The units themselves work great. Thought I'd answer many of the questions I had when deciding to purchase these:
1. When measuring the distance before buying, measure "between" the poles. For me, they fit exactly at the bare minimum. If I measured from the middle of each pole it fell just short.
2. On my particular car model, even with the extra parts, the poles fit but they never clicked into place. So they can only sit in the lowest position (not a problem for me, but might be for others who have a 2010 Altima).
3. Contrary to the FAQs, these units do in fact play XVID format (yes!). So I can play all those (ahem) legal AVI movies I downloaded off the web. This is great because we'll just purchase a large SD card, fill it with kids movies, and leave it in there for the kids. They also play from USB.
4. Either unit can play its own movie, or be the master and play for both (awesome).
5. The stereo speakers in the unit aren't the best, but aren't really bad either (not disappointed, just don't expect Bose quality :).
6. The games that come with it are mostly through a LAME player. So all those games like Mario that you grew up playing as a kid are on there. The 32-bit games though are kinda weird. But the Nintendo 8-bit games are great. Only problem is that it doesn't let you page through the list of games, so you have to scroll through them alphabetically (and there are a LOT). Not disappointed though since I have LAME players on other devices (don't worry, it's not difficult to use).
7. DVD kept memory. This is better than awesome. I decided to hook this up to a hidden cigarette adapter I have in my middle console. Unfortunately mine is always powered, so I left it unplugged for 24 hours (not needed). That means both headrest units had "no power" for 24 hours. Yet when I plugged it back in today, the DVD in there played right from where it left off. Not sure how long the capacitors can hold power, but that was very long.
8. I love that these zip up. Most headrest units out there don't do that. This way if you park your vehicle in a questionable area, you're more likely to be overlooked by thieves.
9. Remotes aren't unique to each unit, so controlling them can affect both if you don't hold your hand to block IR to other unit.
A tip for anone like myself who's never opened a car chair like this. I didn't realize it, but the lower part of the back of my seats actually pop off - called a seat back (I know car experts are laughing at me, but I didn't know). If you search youtube for installing dvd headrests, you can find more details on this (not all cars though). No coat hanger needed :).
Overall I am very happy and highly recommend these!
