Great Price Performance so far. (Edited again to update SD card findings and MP4 encodings)
1. LightintheBox shipping was fast. I'm in Silicon Valley, California, USA, and the shipment was from San Leandro, an hour away. This package showed up in 2 days! Fast! No additional duty or import fees. Foreign buyers check your countries first. Yes, it's a pain, but not lightinthebox's fault. Fault your gov't.
2. Does not include 14mm poles required on most modern Toyotas. Ordered some online from another vendor, machined slots which work with existing seats and allow raising up/down. Will work with my seats that have active headrests. There is a small ridge inside seat back mount holes. Wiggle wiring harness to thread it through.
3. Wiring harnesses - good design here. The main connectors use a slim sleeve coupling that separates to fit through the inner diameter of the poles. Installation is normal for headrest monitors. Route it down the seat back, under the seat mounts and carpet to the rear power source (12VDC) in my Toyota Prius. Hid all the wiring under side panels and carpet.
4. (Updated) SD slots says SD/MMC. But it's actually SDHC compatible. Ad here says upto 16GB SD. I used included USB adapter dongle and have a 32GB stick filled with 31.5GB videos. Works. Also tried a 32GB microSDHC in an SD adapter. Reads that too.
5. IR support works great with my old standard IR headphones from the old minivan. The FM transmitter is okay, but doesn't work well in urban areas with lots of FM interference.
6. (New) DVD plays fine. VCD plays fine. But MP4's are very specific. No H.264 support. No plain-vanilla MP4 support. The codec this seems to support is specifically the Xvid/FFMpeg encoded and AVI encapsulation with mpeg1-layer3 audio (i.e. mp3) audio. I tried a bunch of converters, and it was no good. The default settings for stock MP4 encoding, were no good. I especially had to encode using Xvid/FFmpeg or Xvid/mencoder (which implements a similar open-src ffmpeg). I didn't try DivX (proprietary) and will stick with open-src and open-standards. Player does a pretty good job finding best default zoom to view on the 16:9 screen. It supports varied frame-rate and NTSC and PAL interleaving styles, and it handles a variety of lower bit rate audio (64kbps) to higher (192kbps). I stuck with 128kbps for most rips. Wide 2.35:1 aspect format videos play in a skinny letter box, but player can zoom in, which looks nicer (except for the zoom2 that lingers on the screen). I would recommend re-ripping at a 16:9 aspect to fill the screen. I rip using 480 pixels wide and 15 fps and looks great and small videos about 3.5hrs/GB. That's almost 100hrs of video on a 32GB card.
7. (new) With digital media, the video stream and audio can get out of sync sometimes. Hitting pause, and then play again can cause a resync and allow the video and audio to come back closer to sync.
Still very happy with purchase.
