I ordered this dress for my sister's wedding, and we are both very happy with it. I like that the sash doesn't need to be untied in order to put it on; the zipper goes across the sash behind the bow. The material used is thick and clean and the dress seems well made and done with cheap materials.

I do wish it were possible to see it in all of the possible colors instead of just this one picture as a reference. It would have been nice to pick different colors and see how the dress would look in them before I ordered. There are a lot of colors to choose from which is nice, but I didn't know how the dress would look in them. I ordered it in burgundy and champagne and it turned out very nice, but I was worried that I would get it and it wouldn't be what I had in mind.

Otherwise this is a nice-looking formal dress and I am happy with the service of this company. I would order dresses from here again if I had an occasion for one.

for her young bridesmaids to wear so I wanted a dress to compliment and thought to buy from the same site to keep things easy. I'm fairly large busted so I specifically wanted it to have straps that I could wear a bra underneath. I came across this style - special thanks goes to everyone who had put up photographs already as it really helped me decide seeing it on 'not-website model' shaped women as I'm definitely not! It helped me pick in confidence, given I couldn't try on in advance or return it.

The order process was very easy and the dresses arrived in 3 weeks! I DID have to pay additional UK import duties, which I was expecting (from other reviews rather than the site being clear it -will- happen) on top of the shipping price, but I still consider the total cost of £300 for the 3 dresses and a shawl as extremely good and easily comparable, or less, to many high street shop options - and the wide choice of colours and styles really is a plus. Bonus was also not needing to traipse round stores at all...

Despite hoping the three dresses would match, there was a slight difference in colour as the girls dresses were matte satin and mine a shinier satin (my sister wasn't bothered though). To break up the burgandy bodice/skirt I chose ivory for the waistband. The burgandy is a more reddish shade than the purple one that some burgandy's are. The construction is extremely good and quality made, both mine and the two bridesmaids. I felt very secure in my dress with the small amount of boning giving it structure and flattening (less need for shapewear) but still very comfortable to stand/sit/eat in. Despite the low price, none of them felt or looked cheap :)

I picked custom measurements and didn't regret it - I'm not a pear shape that most high street dresses are based on and the small extra charge was totally worth it. The dress fitted me perfectly out the box!
I ordered it longer as at the time I hadn't chosen my shoes, but it just took a little time and patience to shorten it to the right length. I also chose to unstitch and take out the 'bra pads' from the bodice. I left the bow on the back (it matches the waistband colour) but it's easily removable if you wanted.

I've added a couple of photos as I found it so helpful to see it in 'real life' before ordering. For those similar in shape/size to me looking, I'm a 43-37-42" (UK dress 16/18) and 5'7" in height.
The wedding was in February, hence the addition of shrugs in ivory - but hopefully it shows just how these dresses can look fantastic for both summer and winter weddings! :D

I ordered this dress in black for one of my daughters bridesmaids and it is stunning! She is having each girl pick out the dress that flatters them the best. We were very pleased with the workmanship and the time from ordering until receiving was very quick.

A question in response to someones comment about padding - is there enough padding in the chest that one wouldn't have to wear a bra? Or should we measure our busts with a bra on if purchasing this with custom measurements? And should we measure length with or without the heels we will wear with it on? This is such a pretty dress!

I ordered this dress to be a bridesmaid in my sister's wedding. The top and skirt are burgundy with a black sash. It turned out quite nicely, and was exactly as the picture showed. I chose not to get the customized one for $30 more, but will need to get it hemmed which I had fair warning of from the fitting guidelines. I was a little scared ordering from Light in the Box since none of us girls ever actually ordered anything from them, but it arrived very timely and in good condition. The fabric is of a nice quality. I think my sister will be happy with the results!

Light in the Box has been absolutely phenomenal--the shipping, the sizing, the quality of the product, and the customer service!
I ordered the dress just a couple months before the date of the wedding. everybody was nervous that the dresses would not arrive in time because the bride had selected them a lot later than planned. I was nervous too, because I knew that with my unusual proportions, I would need to have the dress altered and hemmed, for sure, which would take even more time to do after the dress had arrived.
However, I then found the option for customized fitting on the site. When I had ordered formal dresses online from other sites in the past, there had never been a customized fitting option. Buying a formal evening dress can alone be a big cost, and then paying an additional cost to have a professional fit your dress you can be an even bigger blow to your wallet. But Light in the Box's fitting fee was so minimal, that I honestly couldn't believe it! They even provided an informational video on how to take proper dress measurements! My mother, who never orders anything online, was equally impressed and found it beyond easy to help me take my measurements with the help of the video.
When the dress arrived, I tried it on, and to my surprise, it fit PERFECTLY. Now that is a first for me. Not only was the price for this dress and the customized fitting unbeatable, but the dress looked a felt great, and shipped faster than any other formal dress I have ordered online before.
One of the bridesmaids remarked at how the dress looked great for every body type, and many of the guests told me how elegant the dress looked--and in such a pretty color!
Customer service was quick to respond to my questions, and processed my order the same day! Overall, the entire experience was a success.
