I must say that I am very pleased with my purchase. This camera is now set up in our baby's bedroom so that we can observe him at night, especially if he cries to check that he is ok without going in to his room and possibly disturbing him a bit more. Admittedly, it did take me some Google and Wikipedia searching to find out how to install the camera as I cannot play the mini CD on my macbook pro.

My basic instructions:

Plug into router via Ethernet cable
Download IP Camera Tool for Mac from www.wanscam.com/download/index.html
Using identified IP address, log into camera via LAN
Add WLAN settings to IP camera and remove Ethernet cable
Site cable in position
Download CamViewer on iPhone/iPad and add settings (IP address, username and password).

I have also set the camera up so we can view it from outside our LAN using Surveillance Station which is part of our Synology Network Storage system. For this, the "Source Path" you will need to enter is

/videostream.cgi?resolution=64&rate=0

(it took me a long time to find out)!

There is also a way to turn off the really annoying flashing green LED on the front of the camera, by going to the following web address when connected to your LAN. Replace the x with your IP address.

All in all, I'm very pleased, especially with the quality of the night vision.

Hi, You sound like you know how to get these things working : ) I recently bought one but with minimal IT knowledge, I'm having trouble setting it up and can't get help from here or the manufacturer. I'm having several issues and was wondering if you can help me? I am suspecting it is faulty and may need to replace it. 1) The camera changes its position after I set it to a certain direction all by itself at anytime. 2) When I view it using firefox connected with ethernet cable, I can see footage almost straight away. But when I use my iPhone 5 apps (Camviewer or IPCAM Lite), it almost always freezes, doesn't load at all, very delayed movements, unable to connect. If I try to remotely change direction, it moves super fast one way or another, but never where I want it to stop, regardless how gentle or slow I pressed the arrows. 3) Does it have sound? Customer service told me it doesn't have audio. But the specs say it does and I've read other reviews that it does. All the above are issues using wifi at home. But I really need to use it when I'm out and about and then I can't get it to connect using cellular coverage. 4) Which app do you use to view on your smartphone? 5) What ip address do I need to put in my apps? 6) Do I need to do anything in my router settings? I am so lost and annoyed and have been trying to get it functioning properly every nite. Its so temperamental and goes crazy. Can you help me with my problems please? I have little IT knowledge, so may need precise instructions/explanantions. Thanks in advance. I purchased the AJ model which is on sale for the lowest price I have found. The English documentation is very poor -- apparently written by a Chinese technical person whose command of English is only slightly better than my Chinese. It is supplied on a mini disk which my desk top cannot handle. However my Toshiba lap top has a spindle which holds it securely and I simply copied it to a flash drive. Set up must be done on a wired connection. Afterward, the Wi Fi parameters can be entered and the wired connection disconnected. I use Internet Explorer so the graphic interface has a button at the bottom called Signal Lights Control (hover over it) to switch the blinking green light off and on. I also found that the video window is shifted right and partially obscures the controls. A very helpful technician at WAMSCAM observed that since I was using IE10, I would have to modify its HTML. This is easily done, but beyond the scope of these comments. One last thing: the Camera's MAC address changes when going from wired to Wi Fi. I believe the Wi Fi adapter has its own MAC. We want to do something about security and the first idea was to install canera's around our house so we can record everything that happens around our house when we are away from home. This Camera is a real indoor camera we have discovered. In itself, he gives good pictures, but the LED lighting is not very much in the dark. For this the other camera that we bought so much better suited (Wanscam - Wireless Night Vision Outdoor IP Camera (Waterproof, IR 20M) Item ID #00217293)

To our surprise within 1 ½ weeks the cameras arrived and connecting is really easy.
There follows a VAT invoice from FEDEX, but that makes the cameras are still very cheap. Really a new form of online shopping is very good like
The camera sends pictures to an FTP server when motion is detected and it works very well. You do not have to install a PC at home to monitor the camera's. The photos are readily available on the internet, so if anyone disables the camera or takes it away his pictures already secured on the Internet.

A great alternative to a much more expensive surveillance system, this was a breeze to setup!
I use it on my desktop PC, a older laptop running XP Pro and an iPod Touch 16gb 1st gen.

As good as the camera is, the SERVICE is EVEN BETTER!
A defective camera (a rarity, I'm sure) was replaced without a hassle and arrived even quicker than the original one was delivered!

I bought 3 of these cameras and they are great.
I found that outside in california they faded out in bright light at long distances..
but inside they had great color and amazing control.
Just make sure to load the active X control from the disk as IE9 will reject the automatic load from the camera.
Had to set my router to 192.168.1.X for me to connect for initial setup.
But easily setup the ports and IP addresses for remote viewing.
My next camera once I save up will be a 720P or better but these are great and I have friends buying them for there ease of use.
These are 2 pics from the camera I have mounted outside.
I know that this is a indoor camera but for testing I tried it mounted outside then moved it inside.

Fast shipping, came from straight from Amazon even though I ordered it from the lightinthebox website. Set up was not too bad, but I have used the old Linksys IP cameras in the past so I was familiar with port forwarding.

If you have never set up a camera or used "Port Forwarding" you may struggle a bit with set up. But it is worth the trouble.

The "color" is a bit off, as others have previously noted but I have no complaints at this price!

Night vision works great out to about 20 to 30 Ft. beyond that you really won't be able to see anything that is not already lit up.

Basically I did the following:

Disabled my wireless MAC filter on router

I plugged the camera into to my Linksys WRT54G router. (with DD-WRT v24-sp2 installed)

Set up camera with the install disc that came with it
(In the camera's user interface - Under "Basic Network Settings" Make sure you have unchecked "Obtain IP from DHCP Server ")

Setup Port Forwarding (The ports I chose are in one of the pictures I attached)

Removed Cat 5 cable, and the unit connected wirelessly

Added the MAC address of the camera re-enabled MAC filtering

And I was up and running!

I downloaded and used the "IP Cam Viewer Lite" free Android app to view on my Samsung Proclaim. Also works on Motorola Droid 2.

There is only an option for adding two pictures or I would have added more screenshots

All and all this was a great purchase. I am using this in my repair shop to monitor my tools and customers bikes.

Perfect. It took a little while to work out how to set this up (as does anything new), but I am glad I stuck with it as I now have two camera's working like a dream. The instructions are quite intuitive and the motion detection alarm function (which sends pictures to an email address) is just what I wanted. The unit price is amazing. I have 4 of these cameras now. My last order came within 4 days.
The latest cam is mounted upside down under the second story deck.
The Deck gives weather protection and a great pan/tilt view. I used settings to reverse and mirror the image.
Love the Motion detect - send Email images function.
Now if someone approaches - whether I am home - or not - I get 5 instant email images on my smart phone.
With the router set properly I can see and control live streaming image from each camera on my phone or tablet when I am away.
Gives great peace of mind.

Sorry for inconvenience caused. Here is the instruction wrote by our customer:
Plug into router via Ethernet cable
Download IP Camera Tool for Mac from www.wanscam.com/download/index.html
Using identified IP address, log into camera via LAN
Add WLAN settings to IP camera and remove Ethernet cable
Site cable in position
Download CamViewer on iPhone/iPad and add settings (IP address, username and password).
