Camera is meant to be mounted high and in the center of desired viewing area. If you draw a circle, you would mount the camera high and in the middle of it. The camera pans all the way down and back up again on the other side and then side to side, spinning 360 degrees looking straight downward.

The camera, as mentioned by another reviewer, does not view straight-ahead, horizontal. The lens is aimed downward about 20 degrees. Mounted on my garage (7ft high), I could not see my house 30-35ft away (it was short about 12ft). Mounted on a pole 15ft high, I could just see the bottom of the back door at the same 30-35ft distance.

I tried tipping the camera up by shimming it 1" or so. This gave me the horizontal view, but messed up the side to side because the camera now moves in an arc pattern. I would not recommend this camera to view forward and across, only downward in a large radius and 360 degree(ish) around.

Other than that, the camera is bigger than it appears in the picture, but is good build quality. It looks nice too. The picture image quality is pretty good. Better than I expected. At night, pitch black, the IR LEDs light up the back of my house really good at 30-35ft. You can definitely see anything moving or going on in black and white detail. Also, I can see the road at about 90ft. I’m pretty impressed.

For an experienced networking guy, this setup was a bit tricky at first. Once you find the camera on your network, the rest of the setup is fairly straight-forward. The software to operate the camera is okay and easy enough to use. If you get the off-center picture as mentioned by another reviewer, click the page compatibility button in IE to fix it (the torn rectangle icon up on the address bar).

I am using WIFI at home to connect the camera and so far, no problems with connectivity. I am actually pretty surprised at the distance the camera is away from the router and everything is good. I have not lost connection and speed is typical for this setup. Software has some nice features, but motion detection is a bit funky and I haven't figured out the proper adjustment yet. At times, you get glare and stuff on outer dome lens that effects your view. Lastly, the camera doesn't seem to integrate into multi-camera setups, in other software, with different cameras, for various reasons.

Overall, if the camera is located properly, it is a really good buy. I would recommend it to others. Optical zoom works great, the night vision works great and picture quality and control is good too. Has all the features you would want or need for basic home or business application.

Met deze ip camera heb je wel wat kennis nodig van netwerkinstellingen.Voor een leek of digibeet is het goed instellen van de camera niet te doen.Een zeer detaileerde gebruiksaanwijzing in het nederlands is zeer welkom.Als de camera eenmaal goed is ingesteld, beleef je er veel plezier en gemak van.Werkt prima met goede beelden, alleen met de infrarood aan wordt het beeld erg slecht, door reflectie in het glas.
Vragen heeft geen zin, krijgt geen antwoord.Ben er nu achter dat je deze camera beter kan kopen bij Amazone.Scheelt veel invoerrechten.Was €149,00 kwijt.

Mooi compleet en zeer snel gelverd. De camera ziet er gelikt uit.
Werkt perfect, mook nachtzicht is goed.

Well built camera. Excellent value.
Metal case seems solid, paint seems well done, but the domed lens cover seems to move around a bit so I'm not sure about the sealing of that.
It would have been helpful to know there are 4 screw holes for mounting and they are not spaced for a standard electrical box. The picture only shows 2 holes at the top. There are actually 4. 2 more holes at the bottom, same spacing as in the picture has on the top.
Cabling location would have been good to know ahead of time to plan. I roughed it in by placing the camera on the wall. I used a 1 inch square hole through the wall, which allowed the cables (RJ-45 is the biggest) to pass through the wall inside my attic space. When cutting the hole, it needs to be centered, starting just below where the top screw holes are so the cable fits though.
I am using cat5e connection. It would be nice to have a plug to cover the antenna jack on top when not using the antenna. I had to mount the antenna anyways just to plug the hole, even though the antenna is not being used.
To ensure a weather seal to the wall, I used a bead of white silicone around the base.
Operation: Motion is good, but seems to stick when all the way reversed to the wall. Moving the camera to point down and then rotating frees it up. Although my camera is mounted high, the lens can't be directed high enough to view horizontal, seems to max at about 50 degrees. When looking reverse, the camera looks right at the mounting wall so I tried a mirror on the back to see front, horizontally. This presents a night time problem as the IR LED’s reflect on glass. Daytime is OK, but tweaking is required to position the mirror so it can see forward, horizontally through the mirror.
There is an issue with windows explorer not positioning the image in the middle, it goes off th the right a bit, covering the PTZ and other controls on the left. (Firefox is OK, but lacks controls that IE has). Shrinking the image gets around this, but you need to remember to switch setting back if capturing images through ftp.
This is the same issue I have with other wanscam cameras.
The camera looks very professional in the final install.
