Running at 800 * 552 (and not 800 * 600) makes little difference, movies look good and WiFi connects effortlessly.

It is fast, already is rooted too so you can run superuser apps on it. Only problem for me is......
I broke the screen. Bought it for my girlfriend and she was catching a plane today, trying to juggle to bags and one fell over. When she got to Spain....the screen was damaged. The screen itself seemed fine, but it was white with a black smudge at one part of the screen.
Anyone help with screen replacement? Need to wait until monday for lightinthebox to reply. I just hope that a replacement screen isnt too expensive. I only got it two weeks ago!!!

So it's no iPad Mini. But if you're looking for an iPad Mini 'killer' then consider the $130 Vido N80 dual-core (RK2066; Antutu 11977) or the $180 N80 quad-core (RK3188; Antutu 18013). In any case, the Apple Store has an edge on Google Play in terms of apps (number, quality, and features), due to the consistent iOS platform and lingering dominance of Apple devices.

But this 8GB Dorado tablet with 32GB microSD ($120 combined) is a fraction of the price of an iPad Mini ($429, 32GB, WiFi), yet offers comparable function and greater flexibility. Google Play offers every mainstream app (or equivalent) that I run on my iPad. But it's the added flexibility of the built-in ports and sync-options that really set these Android devices apart: HDMI-out, USB-port, SD-expansion (32GB max), Flash internet video, remote app-install, plug-in broadband (USB 3G) and more. Android 4.x "just works." It sync's your browser favorites, mail, calendars, apps, documents & media seamlessly (without iTunes). It streams AV content (Netflix, Pandora, or media files) flawlessly with optional output to an HDTV or AV Receiver using WiFi (DLNA or $99 Apple TV) or HDMI-out (need $2 HDMI-mini adapter).

The build-quality feels similar to an iPad except the Dorado's buttons feel flimsy, and the touch-screen calibration could be better. The Dorado (ARM Cortex A8 CPU with Mali 400 GPU) scores only 3990 on the Antutu benchmark (image below). The CPU score is quite slow so interacting with the Dorado feels sluggish compared to an iPad 2 or N80 dual-core. The Dorado's strong-point is the GPU which is optimized for media playback and games. The GPU can smoothly playback 1080p Blu-ray rips with 7.1 channel audio (DTS+HD MA), thanks to it's 'hardware acceleration.' To conserve file size, I re-encode my Blu-ray's at 720p with 5.1ch audio. The following Handbrake settings average 2GB per movie, allowing 15 Blu-ray movies on a 32GB micro-SD card. The files playback scaled-down to the Dorado's screen (image below), or at full resolution using HDMI-out to an HDTV.

This tablet is well worth the investment. If you're looking for something to just play around with and maybe look into doing some work on, this is a great buy. Very light, and the tablet itself feels nice in your hands. The capacitive screen is amazing: it really requires little to no pressure and is very responsive. The screen is nice and bright and the audio settings have a decent quality to them.
A tablet for kids or a tablet to just have and check daily weather, news, or other social media, this tablet fits these categories. Worth its price by far.

I bought 2 tablets (can't mention brand) at a local electronic store here in USA and just the same day- it wouldn't download apps. so we took it back. Then with such frustration, I surf the web and found Light in the Box web site. I bought Dorado-Android 4.0. Tablet 8" Capacitive Screen 8GB. At first, I was really skeptical and I know buying 2 items is a big risk. But, THANK GOD...It's more than what I expected. I downloaded Google apps with no problem, so my parents can surf web now or read books in bed. Took 6 days till I got it. No extra charge other than what I paid for shipping. Will surely order again in the future..
