This a regular potentiometer/variable resistor and the packaging is pretty nice.
Because of the labeling "DC 12-24V.8A" I was worried that this would only handle 0.8 Amps, but I decided to take a chance on it. After testing I think it probably can handle 8.0 Amps.
I opened up that box to look at the potentiometer directly and ran a load of 2.0 Amps @ 12V through it. There was no noticeable warming at all which indicates it can handle much more than 2A @ 12V. This a regular potentiometer/variable resistor and the packaging is pretty nice.
